Dimitri Foulquier: "Gattuso gives us plenty of confidence and instills a warrior-like mentality”
Dimitri Foulquier was the central figure at L’infomatiu on VCF Media Radio. The full-back ran the rule around the latest news around Valencia CF highlighting the importance behind giving it our all to return to winning ways.
Giving it our all against Real Sociedad
“We are working really well to get ourselves up for the next game. We’ve gone a few games without a win and we want to do so on Sunday. The team have shown their character in the last few games, above all against Barça, but we have to win. We must win on Sunday”.
Playing consistency
“It’s very important to have that mentality to continue in the same vein in every game. If we do that, we’ll pick up many points along the way. We’ve had very good first-half performances, but not in the second”.
“We’re working to be consistent throughout the entire game. It’s true that the results are important but we have to see the improvement. the team have understood that and we’ll try to put it into practice on Sunday.”
Gattuso’s message
“Winning is what the gaffer wants. We all know his mentality; he tries to instill a warrior-like mentality so that we have plenty of confidence at any given moment. Always having confidence and doing what we do in training and in many spells of the games”.
Tight LaLiga games
“All the games are really difficult. Real Sociedad have a lot of possession, they play an expansive brand of football and it`s a tough place to go, but we want to come away with the win and we’re going to prepare it well to pick up points. All sides have plenty of reasons to win, I hope that we come away with all three points”.
Confidence and work-rate
“Competing is fine, playing well is fine, but if you don’t pick up the points, you lose confidence and end up playing worse. We must win, period. We have to work, work and work to take all three points”.
Togetherness in the group
“We have a great group we are very supportive and that is going to help us a lot. The team are fine, the group is fine, there’s a great atmosphere, we’re a close-knit group and I hope it stays like this”.
Individual performance
“I’m feeling physically sound. I’m having less relevance, but that’s part of football. I respect the gaffer’s decisions and there’s no problem with that. I’m physically sound and ready to contribute”.
Versatility
“I’m not a head coach and I don’t know what it feels to have a player like me. I always try to give it my all and I’ve been playing for a while now. I feel like it easier for me to adapt to a position rather than if it is a boy that has just started. That’s why I try to help out as much as possible. I feel more comfortable playing at right-back. Then you try to read the games and want the team needs and you try to adapt”.
Intensity
“In today’s football, there’s a lack of intensity in many areas of the pitch. Otherwise, you can’t win games. It’s the path to win games. That’s what I think and I’m convinced that you can’t win games without intensity”.
